It's that time of the year again, when no matter which way you turn, Summer holiday ideas pop out at you, on the television, in the newspapers and in magazines. Having a family holiday is a great way for everyone to relax, have some fun and generally all bond together, but the dilemma is always where to go and will it offer something for everyone in your party.
Here's three destinations which are guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face:
Meet Santa in Lapland
There's something about Christmas which brings out the kid in all of us and a winter holiday in Lapland guarantees magical scenery with sparkling snow, soaring pine trees, northern lights and ice hotels. Of course, it's also the official home of Santa, and nothing beats the look on your little one's faces as they come face to face with the great man himself and his reindeer, or their excitement at speeding along the snow on a sled powered by a team of husky dogs. They can also learn to ski or try a spot of ice fishing and at the end of the day bed down in a cosy wooden cabin.
Lego Land and Copenhagen
Denmark's capital makes a great place for a short family break with plenty of interesting things to see and do. No visit here would be complete without a visit to Tivoli which offers all the fun of the fair combined with a tranquil park in which to relax, plus there's plenty of outdoor restaurants and cafes. There's also a zoo, a planetarium, a wax works, an aquarium, and lots more. You can take a ride on a water bus and hop off for a better look at Hans Christian Anderson's 'little Mermaid' and budding architects can take a visit to Lego Land which is just a day trip away. Here you can marvel at the fascinating Miniland built totally from millions of lego bricks and take part in lots of exciting activities which all the family will love.
Florida USA
A family holiday in Florida doesn't just mean spending time with Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Walt Disney World, although family peer pressure will probably mean you giving up a couple of days at least to this well known attraction. There's plenty of other things to do such as walking, biking, canoeing or taking a kayak around the Everglades, or how about escaping to the beautiful barrier island of Sanibel where the kids can scout for seashells along the white sands, catch sight of night herons, visit the Darling National Wildlife Refuge and feast on delicious seafood fresh from the sea at any one of numerous quaint little beach shacks. Whatever your family want to do, they'll be able to do it in Florida.
