The closing date is less than 2 weeks away for final entries to the competition to design a new bridge across the River Seine in Paris.
PROJECT:
The program challenges participants to design a New Contemporary Bridge over the Seine River in Paris. The new Bridge should create a new Icon or landmark in Paris, considering that there are approximately 37 Bridges over the Seine. The design should take into account the position of the location and the expectation for Iconic bridge in a city like Paris.
The proposal should take into accounts:
Function/Social
Circulation (over the Bridge)
Services (through traffic under the Bridge)
Access
Total Area: Open to participants.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The "alignement" law is still in place, which regulates building facades of new constructions according to a pre-defined street width. A building's height is limited according to the width of the streets it borders.
COMMENTARY:
It is the organiser's intention for this stage (Stage 1) of the competition to be as design constraints free as possible to allow competitors' ideas for the chosen site and designs to be as creative and test the boundaries of what is possible. However exciting and challenging the creative opportunity presented within such few parameters may be, it is equally important that any proposal exhibit an amount of functionality and viability.
