About this favourite

Found in heathland areas, the golden ringed dragonfly is the longest to be found in Britain and the only one to bear distinctive black and yellow stripes.  In the UK one of its habitats is to be found on Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, the largest area of open access and uncultivated countryside in the south east.  Situated between the North and South Downs approximately 30 miles south of London, the forest has been designated the High Weald area of outstanding natural beauty and an area of European ecological importance.
