Spring across the Solent for the Isle of Wight Garden Show, 28 – 29 April
Green-fingered enthusiasts gearing up for the summer planting season should head across the Solent over the weekend of 28 – 29 April for the Isle of Wight Spring Garden Show. Sponsored by Wightlink (0871 376 1000* www.wightlink.co.uk), the two-day event takes place at Robin Hill Adventure Park & Gardens and brings together the best Island growers and leading Royal Horticultural Society mainland nurseries.
Set in around eight acres of woodland, the event will showcase 20 RHS accredited nurseries in the Wightlink Floral Marquee, as well as local and regional produce and country crafts.
A great day out for gardeners and non-gardeners alike, the family-friendly event will also feature a food theatre with live demos and visitors hoping for an adrenaline rush can watch some of the UK’s best chainsaw sculpture artists in action at the annual Isle of Wight Chainsaw Carve-Off.
Getting There:
In a day: Wightlink (0871 376 1000*) has inclusive travel and entry day-return tickets to Robin Hill available from £57, which are valid for a car and up to four passengers travelling from Portsmouth or Lymington.
Staying over: Departing on 27 April, a three-night Wightlink Green Getaways (0871 376 0013*) self-catering break at Niton Barns costs from £126 per person (based on four sharing the two-bedroom Yarborough Barn), including return car ferry crossings from Portsmouth or Lymington.
