An isolated mountainous enclave, the autonomous kingdom of Lesotho is largely protected from the influence of surrounding South Africa by the Drakensberg and Maluti Mountains.  The lowest point in the whole country is 1000 m above sea level and enjoys almost 300 days of sunshine each year.  Lesotho is home to the Basotho people who retain and protect their traditions yet are very welcoming to visitors wanting to discover the spectacular scenery of this tiny country.
