About this favourite

The London 2012 Olympic Stadium upon completion will have a capacity of 80,000 during the Games constituting of 25,000 permanent seats in its permanent lower tier and 55,000 in its temporary upper tier. After the games, the upper tier will be dismantled to reduce its footprint.

The Stadium is located on the south side of the Olympic Park on a purpose built ‘island’ site, surrounded by waterways on three sides. Five bridges will link the site to the surrounding area and provide the spectators and athletes with access. Refreshments and merchandise outlets will be located outside the venue on a ‘podium’ that will surround the Stadium, rather than being located within the Stadium itself.

After the games, West Ham United of the English Premier League will assume ownership in which they will host their home matches, but in which they will dismantle the running track, removing the possibility of using the venue for further track and field events.
