Taking the Fashion World by Storm: Mercer Street Hotel partners with British Fashion Council to become the official hotel for London Collections

Mercer Street Hotel will become the official hotel partner for this year’s London Collections, which will kick start the Menswear Calendar at London Fashion week.

Running from 15th – 17th June, London Collections: Men will showcase both the creative and commercial importance of Britain’s brands and emerging talent as well as the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector.  The collection is a development of the Men’s day at London Fashion Week that has grown in stature and content despite sitting outside of the traditional menswear calendar.

To celebrate the launch, HRH The Prince of Wales will host a reception on 14th June at St James’s Palace.  This will provide a unique opportunity for international and UK media, retailers and style influencers to network with London’s menswear designers and businesses in magnificent and uniquely British surroundings.

London Collections: Men will form part of the Fashion 2012 calendar, a central platform under which the industry is able to showcase and celebrate British fashion. It will provide a core focus for the industry and a schedule for the major fashion events and activities throughout London’s Olympic year.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) was set up in 1983 to promote British fashion internationally and co-ordinate this promotion through fashion weeks, exhibitions and showcasing events. The BFC now supports designers beginning at college level and extending to talent identification, business support and showcasing schemes to help British designer businesses develop their profiles and business globally and promote British fashion and its influential role in Creative Britain and Creative London. The BFC Colleges Council offers support to students through its MA Scholarship, links with industry through Design Competitions and Graduate Preview Day. Talent identification and business support schemes include the BFC/Elle Talent Launch Pad; BFC Fash/On Film sponsored by River Island; BFC Rock Vault sponsored by International Palladium Board; BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund; Estethica; Fashion Forward; NEWGEN sponsored by Topshop and NEWGEN MEN sponsored by Topman. Showcasing initiatives include London Collections, London Fashion Week, LONDON show ROOMS, the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation, International Fashion Showcase and the annual celebration of excellence in the fashion industry: the British Fashion Awards.
