The Marussia Formula 1 team has announced that Maria de Villota, the Spanish driver, has joined them as a test driver for the 2012 season. Maria becomes the first female driver to join a Formula 1 team since Katherine Legge in 2005.
She will be driving in the Abu Dhabi tests and may also take the wheel alongside the rest of the Marussia F1team during the coming season.
