An environmentally friendly Porsche 918 has got the go ahead with a limited production run of 918. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a mid-engined sports car designed by Porsche and first shown as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. The Spyder is powered by a 3.4 litre V8 engine, developing 580 horsepower (430 kW), with three electric motors delivering an additional 218 horsepower (163 kW). It is the first plug-in hybrid car from Porsche and with low emissions could come in under the UK road tax limit and even be exempt from London's congestion charge.
The 918 Spyder is capable of reaching 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph. Fuel consumption is a combined 78 mpg or as much as 94 mpg at its most efficient. Price will be in the region of £670,000 so the fuel savings can be put to good use!
