Palais Lumiere plans for China
About this favourite

Futuristic designer Pierre Cardin has been revealing his plans for his Palais Lumiere in Venice and his intention of replicating the idea in China.  The structure will have 3 glass towers soaring 240m (780 ft) connected by a series of 6 discs which will contain restaurants, 1500 apartments, gardens, lakes and pools, cinemas, shops and even a university.  His design draws inspiration from a floral display of 3 stems in a vase.

The Venice construction is due to start in September and will take between 4 and 5 years to complete.  Costs are estimated at 1.5billion Euros or $2 billion.  Cardin's popularity and enthusiasm for China has spurred him to try to create a similar construction within China's booming economy.
