Prince Harry was on hand to present the prizes to the winners of the 2012 London Marathon.  Kenyans, Wilson Kipsang and Mary Keitany  romped to victory in the Men's and Women's events with Kipsang crossing the line in 2hours, 4minutes and 44seconds. 36,705 competitors finished the gruelling race, more than ever before.

Prince Harry joked that he had been trying for years to get a place without success and that next year he had heard his brother and sister in law would be taking part.

 Applications for 2013 open on 30 April and the countdown is already on for next year's Virigin sponsored event.
