Generally, the festival is very interactive for the visitor, who will not only be amazed by the illuminated parades but also enjoy the post-lantern parade celebrations where festival-goers can join in the dancing. This is often nicknamed the 'Flower Party' by foreigners and culminates in a shower of flower petals from the sky, also there are traditional cultural events that takes place throughout the festival duration. Festival-goers are encouraged to get involved with activities such as making lotus lanterns, creating Buddhist art, trying temple food and playing traditional Korean folk games, or just checking-out the Exhibition on exquisite hand-crafted lanterns.
Top tip from the Korea Tourism Organization London office is "get involved with as much of the festival as they can and get into the friendly spirit of the event".
