The Shanghai Grand Hyatt is notable for two features that no other hotel in the world can boast. One – it has the world’s longest laundry chute, understandable when sitting in its atrium on the 56th floor of the Jin Mao tower and looking up to the 87th floor. Two – you’ll be directly underneath the highest post office in China…that isn’t located on a mountain. In terms of superlatives, Burj al Arab in Dubai took the crown of “world’s highest bar” away from the Jin Mao, but with Shanghai’s rapid economic and architectural growth, no doubt the crown will return to a future Shanghainese building.
