Only days after the centenary of the sinking of the ill fated Titanic, comes news that a modern day version of Titanic has been commissioned by an Australian billionaire. Working to the same designs as the original, Titanic II will be diesel powered with 9 decks and 840 cabins, state of the art engineering and all the latest luxuries.
The construction will take place in China and the maiden voyage will be accompanied by the Chinese Navy. Launch date is hoped to be scheduled for 2016.
Clive Palmer, Australia's fifth richest resident, has made his fortune in the mining industry and is well known for his grand destures. He once purchased brand new Mercedes cars for each of his top 55 employees, he runs his own football team and plans to create a new league for them to play in. He has political ambitions too and will stand for public office in Queensland at the next election.
