New Hotels
The Opus Hut - a new high alpine backcountry lodge in the Northern San Juan Mountains. This solar-powered and heated hut is open all year round for recreational use. www.opushut.com

The Mining Exchange Hotel - a Wyndham Grand Hotel will open in Colorado Springs in spring 2012. The hotel is set amongst four historic buildings dating back to the early 20th centre. www.miningexchangehotel.com

New Events

The Ultimate Disc Open - 600 of the world's best athletes will compete in this inaugural international contest in July. www.usafa.af.mil

New Attractions
The Asian Tropics at the Denver Zoo - this exhibit will be the largest bull elephant habitat in the worlds. www.DenverZoo.org/AT/index.html

The Fort Collins Museum and Discovery Science Centre is a hands-on science and technology 'museum' featuring over 100 interactive exhibits that combine science with history and culture. www.FCMDSC.org

South Slope of Pikes Peak - this has been closed to hikers for over 100 years but from late June to September 2012 guided tours in this pristine ecosystem will be available. www.TrailsandOpenSpaces.org
