The U-19 Cambodian football team have lost their one and only warm-up match to neighbours Vietnam ahead of the U-19 Asian Championships next month.
Vietnam bossed the game from the onset taking a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes through goals from strikers Hen Sen and Nyugen. However a resurgent Cambodia hit back early in the second-half to set up a nail biting last 30 minutes. Vietnam's defence remained sturdy and resolute despite wave after wave of Cambodian attacks, and it seemed only a matter of time before Cambodia drew level.
Vietnam eventually ran home 2-1 winners but an assured victory it was not.
Cambodian coach Keo Kosal remained upbeat despite the disappointing loss saying: “Though we were down 2-0, every one of our players kept working hard till the end. It is a good sign.”
The U-19 Asian Champions begin on 8th September.
