International Carthage Festival
The International Carthage Festival is well and truly underway, a comprehensive look in Tunisian culture, focussing on music as well as many other variables. Carthage was one of the most powerful cities in the world during the Roman era and served as a noble foe for many Roman armies. Most of the celebrations are held in the recently restored Roman amphitheatre that now holds a capacity of 7,500.
This celebration is the largest festival in North Africa and in the past has played host to Louis Armstrong, James Brown and many more. After the problems that marred Tunisia earlier this year it is encouraging to see a sense of normality return.
