Puma analyses it's cost of carbon emissions
Jochen Zeitz, Chief Executive of Puma, one of the world's biggest sportswear companies, has commissioned a review of the company's carbon footprint. Results have revealed that production costs are 3 times the cost of the European emissions trading scheme. When water use and carbon emissions in the supply chain and future damage to the world economy are factored in, Puma's actual costs are Euro 66 per tonne while the European trading scheme charges are Euros17 per tonne.
European environmental legislation is under review and it is thought that Puma's results could become a benchmark and may form the basis of new rules to which other companies would have to conform.
