Stragusto (http://www.stragusto.it/index.php) is a wonderful annual street food festival which takes place in the ancient town of Trapani, on the western tip of Sicily, from 20 - 22 July, 2012.
Stragusto celebrates Mediterranean food made and served on the streets, and dishes up the opportunity to taste cultural foods from the 'road' - a mixture of tastes, smells and sounds from various regions. Every evening from 7pm until midnight, visitors can see and taste: lamprey, fritters, arancini, sfincioni, cakes, pancakes, a startling selection of breads, cabbuci, couscous, stuffed olives, , kebabs, desserts ... all made fresh, right there, on the street. The festival also offers musical performances and entertainment, celebrating traditions and customs of Mediterranean countries, with wine tasting and more.
The recently refurbished Fish Market of Trapani hosts the festival. Built right in the town centre, easy to reach, and beautifully positioned with views over the sea.
