Tuen Ng Festival
The Dragon boat festival is said to commemorate the loss of a poet overboard and the efforts his friends made to rescue him. The splashing, the banging of drums to frighten the fish and the throwing of rice, later changed to rice in bamboo leaves all represent part of the story. Dragon Boat festivals are held in many parts of Chinas and South East Asia but one of the biggest is in Hong Kong.
