400,000 Japanese in evacuation centres
Despite continuing freezing weather, 400,000 Japanese affected by the tsunami and earthquake are still living in evacuation centres in 16 Japanese prefectures in the north east of the country. 2 million are without running water and half a million have no power. Workers are still heavily involved in clearing the debris and, as a result, many more roads are open with access to all but the most remote affected areas getting easier.
