Afghan village completely buried in avalanche
Afghanistan's coldest winter for years continues to heap misery on refugees in their flimsy tents and has now brought an avalanche that has buried alive 200. The news of the avalanche, that has entirely engulfed the village of Sherin Nazim in Badakhshan province, has taken a full 24 hours to reach rescue organisations which are now trying to help the trapped villagers. At least 47 bodies have been pulled from the snow so far and the battle to save others is not promising. The road routes to the village are cut off and the poor conditions are not allowing helicopters to get through.
