Visitors and locals have long been concerned about the welfare of the Karrozzin horses in the blistering midday heat and the new government initiative to provide canvas shelters and water points has been welcomed by all.  Animal welfare organisations too have joined in the praise and are urging the authorities to hasten the construction urgently.
EU standards on equine (and general animal) care need to be complied with urgently and the first beneficiaries should be the 65 registered Karrozzin horses.
