On the Christmas table there is nothing quite like a Bresse turkey with its long body and silky flesh. And so it is that the wonderful Bresse poultry is celebrated in a week long festival in the run-up to Christmas giving you the opportunity to buy one of these gastronomic delights for your Christmas table from the regional markets hosting the festival.
The heralded poultry comes from Ain, one of the greatest gastronomic regions in France. With its leader, Georges Blanc, who ardently defends the most beautiful poultry in the world, benefiting from an AOC (protected designation of origin) since 1936.
Great chefs rub shoulders with the public as they track down the best poultry and place an order. Those which will be awarded prizes by the jury and whose breeders will be given a supplementary plaque to put in the front wall of their farm.
You should absolutely, at least once, go to the Glorieuses de Bresse. For the show, for the celebration, to offer yourself the pleasure of choosing your poultry for the Christmas table, and to meet the stars of Lyon and Rhône-Alpes cuisine in the bistrots after shopping in the market.
