The Olympic Torch has made its way though Somerset from Exeter to Taunton and is travelling through Ilminster, Glastonbury, Wells, Bath and into Bristol amphitheatre this evening. The torch was met with expectant crowds in Taunton yesterday evening, where a celebratory atmosphere was created with live jazz, patriotic window displays and bunting. Locals were eager to wave the flags ribbons and inflatables handed out by the presenting partners and cheered at every opportunity as police on horses and bikes went past in preparation. Taunton employees and residents took advantage of their location watching out of windows and making their own mugs of tea. Then squeals and chants erupted as surprise torch bearer 'that Will I Am from The Voice' stepped out of the Olympic bus. A very modern celebrity he tweeted pictures of himself whilst carrying the torch before starting his run. An excellent beginning to the torches journey that is sure to be repeated and outdone as it covers the county and the games draw closer.
