Robin Gibb's death announced

After a long fight against cancer and amid recent hopes of an amazing improvement, the death of Robin Gibb has been announced. A member of the BeeGees, Robin Gibb had an acclaimed white soul voice and, together with his brothers Barry and Maurice was The soundtrack to the late seventies and eighties. Success in the late 1960s was steamrollered by the phenomenal triumph of Saturday Night Fever and went stratospheric with Stayin' Alive. Lennon and McCartney may be the UK's top songwriters but the BeeGees ran them a close second with songs and productions for Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick and Michael Jackson to name but a few.
