Spanish stock exchange down for 5 hours
Spain's financial troubles continue to pile up as the Spanish Stock Exchange, Bolsas, went dark for 5 hours yesterday. The blackout, which was blamed on a technical problem, meant that when the market reopened it had risen by 4.4 percentage points.
Spain is anxious to avoid a sovereign bail out but there are few signs that this can be prevented. The unemployment level remains at a quarter of the working population while banks and financial institutions are struggling to keep pace with their debts and the Euro crisis refuses to go away.
