£50million and 5 years later, Cutty Sark is about to reopen to the public, a true phoenix rising from the ashes. Despite the devastating fire, 90% of the clipper is original material salvaged from the flames.
The viewing experience has been vastly improved and visitors will now be able to look at the ship from below what would have been the water line and be rewarded by stunning sights of a golden hull which had previously been covered in a metal alloy designed for both protection and to improve speed through the water.
The ship includes an impressive display of figureheads, believed to be the largest collection in the world, featuring many historical figures that graced sailing ships that plyed the world's oceans.
The Cutty Sark reopens on 26 April and can be found at Greenwich in south east London.
