Donations pour in after marathon runner's sudden death
About this inspiration
The untimely and unexpected death of marathon runner Claire Squires within a mile of the London Marathon 2012 finish line, has prompted a flood of donations to the Samaritans charity. Claire was one of 70 runners representing the charity and generous benefactors have now raised the total to almost £1million with more coming in hourly to her JustGiving page. Marathon organisers have said that Claire will be awarded a medal posthumously.
Samaritans is overwhelmed by the generosity and have promised to use the money on projects that they believe Claire and her family would approve.
