E-books make up ground lost by paperbacks
About this inspiration
Falling sales in paperbacks have almost been offset by the big rise in sales of e-books, figures reveal. The popularity of e-book readers like Amazon's Kindle have fuelled the increase of digital books which are up 54%. This leads researchers to suggest that downloads of e-books are replacing the purchase of paperbacks as they tend to be cheaper and are quick and convenient to download.
Overall, most readers still prefer proper paper books but the e-book is definitely ensuring that particularlythe younger market is being catered for and the popularity of reading is not diminishing.
