Losar- Tibetan New Year
About this inspiration
The annual Tibetan New Year festival takes place in early March (5-7 March 2011 for the main ceremonies) and lasts for up to15 days with different rituals being performed each day. It pre dates the Buddhist religious festival and incorporates elements of the Farmers Festival to celebrate Tibetan achievement. Offerings are made to the Dalai Lama and quantities of incense to local spirits, a tradition carried down from the ancient pre Buddhist celebrations.
