After years and years of persuasion, Yale University has finally returned 45000 Inca artefacts removed from Mach Picchu.The treasures have been greeted in Lima with great jubilation as the convoy of lorries took the precious items to the Presidential Palace under Police guard and following a formal gun salute.

They will be reinstated at Machu Picchu in time for the centenial celebrations next year.  American explorer Hiram Bingham discovered the Inca site in 1912.
