Asia covers a vast range of habitats, from the barren wastes of Siberia to the steppes and the arid Arabian deserts. The Himalayas are the world's highest peaks, while South Asia has both deserts and jungles. Each of the great religions has its origin in the continent, and the two most populous nations, the ancient civilizations of India and China, are both in Asia. The world's holiest cities, Jerusalem and Mecca are also here, as are some of the richest, most exotic and diverse destinations for travellers: Hong Kong, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Tokyo. The Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China are probably the most instantly recognizable structures on the planet.
